News from Alums
ROCCY, Chocolate Lab/Retriever Mix
10 years-old
ROCCY WAS HARD to place because he is an older dog and large. But he found his forever home
in 2005. This year his family put him on their Christmas card, and here’s what they wrote:
“The 10-year 'old man' has settled in and is the lump and love of our lives...He is a healthy 74 lbs
and in great tone physically...He runs full speed with reckless abandon when he can and it still is
funny and graceful for a dog of 60 to 70 years.”

CASSIE
|
CASSIE, Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix
10 years-old
EACH DOG IS SPECIAL, but some leave lasting attachments. Cassie singled out POOCH director,
Joan Dalton, and befriended her. Joan nearly adopted Cassie herself but then found Ronald and
Shauna Snow. They welcomed Cassie into their home and hearts, took her with them when they
moved out of state, and kept in touch with cards and letters.
In December the Snows called to say that Cassie had been diagnosed with cancer. Then, in
January, they sent the sad news that Cassie had died. Our condolences go to the Snows on
the loss of a beloved member of their family.
