Dr. Paradis Joins the POOCH Board

PATRICK PARADIS, DVM, Woodburn Pet Hospital veterinarian, began his two-year term as a board member in May 2006.

A native Oregonian, Dr. Paradis was born and raised in Woodburn. He decided he wanted to be a veterinarian as a teenager watching the vet care for the animals on his family’s farm. He graduated from Oregon State University with a B.S. in zoology, attended graduate school at OSU for an M.S. in Poultry Science, and then earned his DVM at Kansas State University.

Dr. Paradis practiced with Dr. Clarke Berryman at the Animal Medical Clinic for several years. In 1999, he built the Woodburn Pet Hospital where he now practices with an associate, Dr. Sandra Statter.

Dr. Paradis believes in mentorship and looks at his Project POOCH participation as an opportunity both to save homeless dogs and to be a positive influence in the lives of young people.

WE NOW USE the Meet Your Match Canine-ality Adoption Program, a new system for temperament testing from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Canine-ality is a color-coded system that pairs both the personalities and needs of the adopters and the dogs for maximum compatibility and life-long companionship.

Developed by Emily Weiss, Ph.D., CAAB, the Meet Your Match Canine-ality test has been shown to increase adoption success-rates, and is now widely used in shelters across the country.
