Here's How to Adopt a Pooch

  1. Fill out an Adoption Form:
Adoption Application (MS Word document) or
Adoption Application (Adobe Acrobat PDF document).
If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can download
it for free. Get Acrobat Reader
  2. Kennel visit: Please call Project POOCH, 503-982-4492,
to make an appointment to meet the dogs.
    Driving Directions to Project POOCH.
  3. Home visit: JOAN DALTON, Director, or ADAM BERGIN, Kennel Supervisor, will schedule a home visit to be sure that you can provide an appropriate environment for a dog.
  4. Trial visit: You and the dog you want will have an overnight or weekend visit to "see how it goes." (Like having a date, before you agree to go steady.)
  5. Fee: There is an adoption fee of $195, a very good value since your dog comes to you with all shots, neutered/spayed, micro- chipped, and with basic obedience training.

To hold a dog, Project POOCH must receive a $50 deposit that will be applied toward the adoption fee. $25 of the amount is a non-refundable home visit fee and is charged to cover the cost of transportation. If the dog is adopted, the $25 will be credited toward the $195 adoption fee. If there is a home visit and the dog is not adopted, $25 of the deposit will be refunded.
