Hi, I’m
BONITA!
Do you feel bonita? I most certainly feel bonita, because I am Bonita! I am a sweet little girl with love that far exceeds my body. Like any other dog, I enjoy my walks and sniffing around, and playing with little toys. However, I am much more compact and easy to fit right into your life!
More about BONITA
Do you feel bonita? I most certainly feel bonita, because I am Bonita! I am a sweet little girl with love that far exceeds my body. Like any other dog, I enjoy my walks and sniffing around, and playing with little toys. However, I am much more compact and easy to fit right into your life!
Bonita is a 4-year-old chihuahua mix, weighing only 5.8 lbs. She has gotten along with other small dogs here at POOCH, but has vocalized limits with bigger dogs. Her best friend is Mariposa—they are not bonded, but did come in together from the shelter, so they are fast friends.
She is VERY food motivated and loves learning new tricks! Don’t let her pint-sized nature fool you, she is working on enough skills to out-trick the big dogs. We are working on her leash skills, but she is down to adventure like the big dogs, too! (She even plays fetch!)
We are working on body handling and pick-up cues for this little girl. Too often, small dogs aren’t given the same respect big dogs are, and that can cause them stress and discomfort. When cued “Up-Up” it offers Bonita the chance to opt in to be handled, which she often does; she likes being held.
(And if you’re thinking, “What about the other dog in those pictures with her? That’s her friend Mariposa! They wouldn’t mind being adopted together, but are also happy to strike out for a family of their own.
